Kirsi Ekroth-Manssila

Head of Unit, European Commission, DG Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs

Kirsi Ekroth-Manssila is the Head of the "KETs, Digital Manufacturing and Interoperability” Unit in the European Commission’s DG for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs. In this function, she is responsible for promoting technological innovation through KETs, digital transformation, ICT standardisation and skills. She was previously the Head of the Clusters and Emerging Industries Unit in the same Directorate-General where she was also dealing with the Green Action Plan for SMEs. Before that she was the Acting Head of the Sustainable Industrial Policy and Construction Unit where she was dealing with the Ecodesign and Energy labelling Directives, the Construction Products Regulation and competitiveness aspects of environment, energy and climate policies.

Since joining the Commission in 1996, Kirsi has worked for several years on SME policy. Her work experience before the Commission includes the banking sector and the paper industry.

Kirsi holds a Master of Science degree in Economics from the Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration.
