Prof. Roger De Keersmaecker

IMEC, Co-chair of Working Group on KETs skills and education

Roger De Keersmaecker obtained the MSEE and PhD degrees from KU Leuven in Belgium. After performing post-doctoral research at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center (1977-1979), he was appointed as research director of the Belgian National Science Foundation. From 1984 onwards he was a member of the team that started IMEC and headed a group developing silicon process steps. From 1989 he was a project manager for a contract with the European Space Agency and from 1992 for a suite of EC R&D projects. In 1991 he obtained an MBA degree through the Executive Program of KU Leuven. After a temporary assignment to Flanders’ Foreign Investments Office he rejoined the IMEC management team in January 2000. In 2008 he established IMEC Taiwan where he was consecutively CEO and Vice-Chairman of the Board. After retiring from IMEC as Senior Vice President for Strategic Relations in January 2014, he started his own consultancy and represents IMEC in various boards and committees.  He is an Emeritus Professor of the KU Leuven where he taught a course on VLSI technology until September 2013.
